Dr Kirankumar Rade
Dr Rade is associated with the WHO Country Office for India as a Medical Consultant since 2005. He played a crucial role in establishing DOTS services and capacity building for quality assurance and TB-HIV coordination in the State of Bihar during his assignment from 2005-2008 followed by a successful stint in Gujarat from July 2008 to March 2011, where he was instrumental in establishing STDC Ahmedabad as a national training center for drug resistant TB, validation of newer diagnostic technologies and also designing a state representative TB prevalence survey, the only of its kind in India. Government of Gujarat recognized his contribution with special award.
While working as National Consultant TB Epidemiologist, he designed online case-based application named Nikshay, which received National eGovernance Gold Award by Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. He also played a vital role in making TB notification mandatory and developing tools and mechanisms for comprehensive TB surveillance in India. Dr Rade also contributed in review of India’s EHR/EMR policies as well as MDDS at high level in Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, designing strategies for India’s National Strategic Plan 2012-17 and recent TB Elimination Plan 2017-2025.
